Science Contest at the Planetarium - a celebration of the 25th anniversary

To celebrate the 25th anniversary in style, the VHS and the University of Vienna are hosting an anniversary celebration at the Planetarium of the Vienna Adult Education Centres on 29 November 2023. The highlight of this event is the "Science Contest", a captivating event in the style of a slam (science slam, poetry slam). The contest takes place in the impressive starry dome of the planetarium - science is presented in an entertaining way under very special conditions.

Experience science up close with Mayor Michael Ludwig and University of Vienna Rector Sebastian Schütze. The audience can look forward to five young scientists presenting their research under the starry sky. The audience plays a decisive role, as it selects the best presentation of the evening.

A quarter of a century of science

For a quarter of a century, the VHS Science programme has been at the heart of knowledge exchange and education. What once began as a cooperation with the University of Vienna under the name University meets Public with a handful of lectures has now developed into an impressive programme with VHS Science. Every year, more than 600 lectures, workshops and courses by renowned and up-and-coming scientists from the University of Vienna, TU Wien, BOKU, WU, ÖAW and numerous other research institutions provide a platform for dialogue between science and society. More than 10,000 enthusiastic participants take part in these events every year.
