Botanical Illustration: between Arts and Science

15.05.2019

The correct botanical illustration of a plant requires not only botanical knowledge and an accurate view of scales and proportions. A sense of the right colors is also necessary - such as the countless shades of green in the plant kingdom, or the numerous shades of flowers and fruits.

All this makes the botanical illustration an art that produces extraordinarily aesthetic works. From the root to the flower, all the characteristic features of a plant can be reproduced, as well as temporally successive stages from the bud to the fruit.
