Nutrition and Ageing

Although nutrition as part of a healthy lifestyle is recognised as one of the driving factors for healthy ageing, the exact mechanisms on the biochemical and molecular level are not fully understood. Supported by animal and in vitro experiments, the effects of the human diet and other lifestyle factors on ageing processes are investigated. The focus of the key research area is on molecular and cellular research with an orientation towards systems biology. Genomic, transcriptional, proteomic, and metabolic strategies are applied.
