Urban stressors have an impact on nestling kestrels

12.02.2018

Eurasian kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) are focused in a research cooperation between the University of Vienna and the Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM).

Petra Sumasgutner from the University of Vienna and the reasearchers from NHM investigate the parasite infestation and the immune system of young kestrels. They address questions such as how the hatcheries of the inner city differ from those of the outskirts, and whether the kestrels' diet has an influence on the fitness of the juvenile birds.
