Doctoral Schools

Innovative training networks (ITN) bring together universities, research centres and companies from different countries worldwide to train new generations of researchers. The funding boosts scientific excellence and business innovation, and enhances researchers’ career prospects by developing their skills in entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation.

FWF Doctoral programmes ("DKs") are structured graduate programmes funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) where several doctoral candidates work on their individual thesis topics within a common research area.

Vienna Doctoral Schools (VDS) is an initiative of the University of Vienna to foster excellent doctoral training. The aim is to provide a platform that encourages a transdisciplinary dialogue and exchange between excellent young researchers and supervisors. Furthermore they are also designed to increase the visibility of doctoral education at the University of Vienna.
