The Faculty of Life Sciences unites eleven Departments, four Core Facilities, and one Large-Instrument Facilitiy. Research focuses on Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Nutritional Sciences. To stimulate interdisciplinary research within the Faculty of Life Sciences and between other faculties, Key Research Areas, Research Platforms, and -Clusters and Research Networks have been established and will be further consolidated.

Managerial functions are assigned to the Dean's team. The Dean's team is supported administratively by the Dean's office.

The directors of Study Programmes organise courses and supervise all study-related and organisational issues. They are supported by the Studies Service Centre. The Studies Service Centre of Life Sciences serves as a student information centre at faculty level for all questions concerning degree programmes and graduation. 

Developmentplan 2028 

In preparation for the 2021 negotiations with the Federal Government regarding the performance agreement for the years 2022 to 2024, the University has compiled the Development Plan "University of Vienna 2028". The Development Plan documents the strategic orientation of the University of Vienna. For the University of Vienna, it is an obligation to conduct quality-oriented research and research-led teaching. It pursues an active role in shaping the future of this country and beyond, represents openness, internationality and competitiveness as well as quality awareness, and exploits the potential of digitalisation to achieve a digital transformation designed in a holistic, active and coherent way.
