Lange Nacht der Forschung 2024 - a great success!

For the first time, the UBB hosted the Lange Nacht der Forschung (#LNF) in collaboration with the Vienna BioCenter, offering exciting insights into the entire faculty and the CeMESS with a total of 25 stations on campus. The faculty’s researchers prepared a number of fascinating exhibits and the hands-on stations offered insights into the world of life sciences. With over 1000 visitors, the LNF at UBB was a great success!

Visitors had the chance to learn more about behavioral research on birds, solve complex puzzles of human evolution, observe starlet sea anemones and jellyfish up close, and witness live drug development processes while learning about what makes drugs work.

The event buzzed with excitement as visitors filled the rooms and eagerly listened to the scientists' presentations. They explored the mysterious laboratories in the basement, were mesmerized by the "Micro*Scope" performance theatre in our lecture hall and discovered why the polar ice caps melt faster than ice cream in the summer.

There were comprehensive health checks and evaluation of nutritional preferences, and visitors understood how our brains make decisions and how we can influence them. They learned about the tropical field station La Gamba and had the opportunity to explore our vivarium tree and its diverse organisms.

It was a great experience to share the passion for science with so many curious minds of all ages!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped, who spent hours developing great stations and who came by and added to the great atmosphere!
